I first started bowling when I was a kid. I remember having the bumpers up and throwing the ball, just hoping it would hit something. But, I really started bowling about three years ago when a couple coworkers of mine and I started coming here after work just to have a good time. We had so much fun that it became a weekly thing, then a twice weekly thing, and then Andrew noticed us and suggested we join a league. We joined the Gambler’s Express league four years ago and we never looked back. It’s just something that’s become a part of my life now. The thing I like best about bowling is trying to improve my game. Once you get a strike, there is no better feeling and you just want to improve. You see your score improving and you try to be consistent and you just want to keep getting better.
Well, I have a couple. But, I’d guess I’d have to say that the first year we were in a league my team won. That was a pretty special moment.

All the great people I’ve met. The random people and the staff, and all of the people I’ve played with in leagues, I have really made a lot of good friends, and it’s almost like a family. I’m not from Santa Cruz, so I don’t have family here. The bowling alley has kind of filled that void for me.
