I started bowling about eight or nine months ago. It’s fun! I enjoy the social aspect, going and hanging out with friends and it’s a mixture of talking, but you’ve also got something to do and something else to focus on. It’s also fun to see yourself constantly improve and also constantly not improve. It’s a good personal challenge, because you are just bowling against yourself.
I’ve played a bunch of other intramural and city sports and this is definitely the most positive. Every team you play against, there’s a lot of high-fiving and fist-bumping when anyone makes a good shot. There is never any animosity. I’ve played city league softball for the past five years and there are definitely friendly teams, but there’s definitely a stronger sense of competition. Here it’s much more positive.
I had the high scratch score in league about five weeks ago. On the subject of bowlers being friendly, the other team also bowled above 200 and they called the front desk and had them announce our score over the intercom which was pretty fun.

It’s a cool crew. I like getting to know people. I like having a place you can go by yourself or with your friends. There’s a difference between going to the bowling alley once a month and going every week for league bowling. You get to know all of the employees and the regulars, even if it’s just a head nod. There are a lot of people here that I know. You’re here to bowl, not just drink and socialize.
